If you’ve been keeping up with the news lately, you will have probably heard about the new abortion laws that have just come into place in Texas.

Keep on reading to find out what you can do to support women during this difficult time.

It's one step forwards, two steps back for women's rights.

The new Texas law bans abortions once cardiac activity can be detected in the embryo which typically occurs around the sixth week of pregnancy. However, by the time a pregnant woman misses her period, she is already four weeks pregnant. Many women may not even be aware that they’re pregnant during this time, which makes it incredibly difficult to challenge in court.

Under the new Texas law, a women will have approximately two weeks to recognise her condition, confirm the pregnancy with a test and make a decision about how to manage her condition and obtain an abortion. A lot of women have challenged the new law as many women may not track their periods, have irregular periods altogether or not know the exact date of the start of their last period.

But beyond that, this is yet another example of society trying to police women’s bodies and take away their autonomy.

This law affects all women, but especially those most vulnerable, and we want our Female Family worldwide to know that we stand with you, your decisions and your rights.

What can I do to help?

Now, more than ever, our Female Family around the world needs us. Reproductive rights are human rights, that’s why we’re here to remind you that we stand with you.  Our bodies, our choice.
