How To Create The Perfect Work From Home Space

Lounge Underwear How To Create The Perfect Work From Home Space

Struggling to get back into your work routine, Loungers? With the holiday period sadly behind us, many of us are throwing ourselves back into the world of work for the new year. For many of us, this may mean returning to the classic office buzz, endless tea rounds and pod snacks. However for a lot of us, this means setting up in our lounge or dining room once again as we continue to work from home.

As we all know, one of the most stressful parts of working remotely is setting up a home office and finding an appropriate place to knuckle down. But luckily for you, Loungers, that's where we come in.

Creating the perfect home office setup is not only important for your 9 to 5, it’s important for your mental health too. This is because your mind needs to be able to separate work from home, so you can truly Lounge with peace of mind.

So, to help set you up for success, we’ve collated a step-by-step guide to create a work from home space that won’t only boost your productivity levels, but will give you every reason to  show off during all of your Zoom meetings. This way, you no longer have to pretend that your camera doesn’t work…

Work From Home Space

1. PICK THE RIGHT SPOT

First things first, you need to pick the perfect spot. Ideally, somewhere where you’ll be the most productive (and comfortable). Sadly, ladies, we don’t recommend working from your bed, as this will only cause more distractions and can even affect your sleep pattern.

Depending on where you live, you may not have many options, but it’s important you choose somewhere that’s out of the way from potential distractions (AKA snacks and Netflix). Preferably, you also want to be by a window to maximise the amount of natural light you receive, as well as fresh air. It’s the perfect remedy to keep you motivated and your wellbeing in check!

However, if you don’t fancy sitting with the window open during these cold Winter months, make sure you’re heading out during your lunch break, even if it’s just for a quick walk around the block.

2. LIGHTS, POWER, ACTION

On the subject of picking the right spot, you also need to be by a power outlet. It’s also a good idea to double check that where you’ve set up your work from home space has strong wifi connection, as there’s nothing more frustrating than your internet dropping out midway through a meeting, right, girls?

Whilst natural light is essential, you’ll also want to set up some proper lighting to reduce eye strain - as well as giving you that all important glow during your Zoom meetings. Consider purchasing a table lamp or brightly-lit floor lamp - or use one from another room if you’re looking to save those pennies after yet another expensive Christmas.

3. DECORATE

Now for the fun part… you’re going to be spending the majority of your day here, so you may as well add a little personality. Besides, who doesn’t love an excuse to purchase some new stationery and cute decor? Think dreamy Pinterest vibes, we’re here for it.

Whether you prefer a more sleek and simplistic space or want to add a bit of colour with some wall art, creating the perfect home office setup is all about creating a space that works for you

Plants are another great way to bring your office to life and create a space so inviting, you’ll never want to leave. Mother Nature tends to have that effect on people…

4. CREATE A CALM SPACE

Creating a home office is about more than creating a space that is pretty to look at. It’s about creating a calm environment. We understand that all this change can be unnerving, which is why it’s important to have somewhere where you can stay on top of your day to day tasks without feeling overwhelmed.

Try playing some soft, chilled-out music and adding an aromatherapy diffuser to your desk (lavender is our fave), so you can embrace all those work–from-home perks. See Loungers, there’s always a silver lining…

Don’t forget you can also slip into your favourite Lounge looks to keep you feeling cosy and productive all day, every day.

5. CHOOSE THE RIGHT DESK AND CHAIR

This may seem like common sense, girls, but it really is important when working from home that you choose the right desk and chair.

A chair that’s comfortable and provides back support is a must. Trust us, back pain isn’t fun. Add a cushion or a cosy blanket for endless comfort. Next, choose a desk with a sturdy surface. You may wish to purchase a laptop stand or even prop it up on a pile of books to create the right height so you’re not hunching over or straining.

6. KEEP IT TIDY

Last but by no means least, you’ll want to keep your work from home space tidy. This will make it easier for you to keep focused because, let’s be honest, keeping motivated while working from home is a task in itself.

Mess can overwhelm our minds and increase anxiety. Avoid any unnecessary stress by reducing the amount of clutter on your desk and keep things feeling fresh and refined with your minimalistic decor.

Creating A Home Office

We completely understand that it can take time to adjust to working from home, especially if you’re used to working in the office full time and don’t yet have a dedicated work from home space.

However, our guide to create the perfect home office setup is designed to help you create a space that not only helps you remain productive, but is calming for the mind.

We never want you to think you’re alone, Loungers, especially during times as strange as these. Now more than ever, it’s important that we stick together and look out for one another. Remember, this is only temporary and brighter days are coming.

We love you.
