Every year, the third Monday of January is dubbed ‘Blue Monday’.

In fairness, we can totally see why. The majority of us are pretty short for cash, we’re holding out for pay day, it’s cold outside and we’re riddled with New Year’s resolutions that didn’t quite go to plan. In fact, it’s quite similar to the January Blues that we all get which makes today the perfect time to lift your mood and add some luxury into your life. Don't let those Blue Monday vibes get to you, girls. Treat yourself - you've earned it.

Blue Monday is thought to be the most depressing day of the year, but it doesn’t have to be that way, girls.

Get Moving

And by moving, we mean get outside, of course! When we exercise, we naturally feel happier, more accomplished and even more fulfilled. Honestly, girls, don’t neglect your health because you’re working from home. We know it’s dark, it’s gloomy and it’s absolutely freezing outside but simply going for a walk on your lunch break or just before you start work will lift your mood by a mile. As an added bonus, it gets your brain working, too!

Be Thankful

Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, focus on what you do have. This year, we all have so much to be thankful for, so try not to dwell on the negative. Whether it’s your health, finances, family or you’re thankful for your besties (as we all are!), cherish all of that goodness and use it to channel positive energy into your everyday life. 


Set Realistic Goals

It’s natural for us all to aspire to do greater things but sometimes, our imaginations can get ahead of us and we can end up comparing ourselves to others, which is a no-no. Make sure your insta feeds are full of positive accounts that will inspire you instead of getting you down. Also, set goals for yourself that are attainable, not goals that will set you up to fail. Work at your own pace!

Introduce Healthier Foods Into Your Diet

Step away from the mince pies and leftover boxes of Christmas chocolates (it’s happens, we know).

As a Blue Monday tip, try and eat more fruits and vegetables that will have you feeling fresh and revitalised. Eating good food can have a positive impact on your mental health, as well as your physical health! Don’t worry, we’re not saying to cut out sugar entirely, but cutting down will certainly help.

Reach Out to your Female Family

If you’re feeling a little down in the dumps, reach out to your besties this Blue Monday - whether it be over Zoom or Facetime. Having a good old chit chat will put you at ease and lift your mood. Besides, your girls will always be there for you.

Above all, remember that Blue Monday is only one day out of the whole year and even if you’re not feeling yourself, this feeling will pass. 2021 will be magical for you. You’ve got this.
