Loungers, be honest... how many times a day do you compare yourself to others?

How often do you hear that little voice in your head telling you that you’re not good enough?

Whether it targets your career, relationships, appearance or abilities, we’ve all heard that little voice but let’s get one thing straight:

Your insecurities do not define you!

It’s completely normal to have days where you don't feel your best but if you don’t tackle that toxic self-talk and take control, it’ll start taking a toll on your happiness and wellbeing.

Building confidence can be a bit of a challenge but its something that requires patience, effort and determination – you can do it!.

We’ve pulled together some tips to help, so if you’re ready to stop that self-criticism and say goodbye to those insecurities, keep reading:

SPEND TIME WITH LOVED ONES.

Let a little love into your life!

Sometimes the solution to squashing your insecurities is as simple as surrounding yourself with those who support you.

Fill your calendar with coffee dates and catch-ups and spend time with those who care about you. Trust us, you’ll feel so much better for it.

NOTICE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS AND CHALLENGE THEM.

So what if you look a little different to last year?
So what if you failed that exam?
So what if you didn’t get that big promotion?

Stop beating yourself up and put your energy into finding a fresh perspective.

A positive mindset is key and positive affirmations are the perfect way to challenge that pesky inner critic of yours. Here are just a few to try:

I am confident.
I am worthy.
I will not compare myself to others, I am enough.

The bottom line is: bad things happen to the best of us and whilst they can have a big impact on our lives, they’re not the be-all and end-all.

Put together a list of positive affirmations and practise reading them to yourself every day. Whether it’s your family or your friends, your health or your home, if you can find time to be thankful for the blessings in your life, things wont feel so bad.

AFFIRM YOUR OWN VALUES.

Want to know the secret to building confidence, boosting motivation and overcoming those body insecurities?

Celebrate your successes, reflect on the good and take note of all those things that you’re doing right because being proud of your accomplishments has a powerful effect on your self-confidence.

Thinking about your wins will make you feel like a winner, so don’t be afraid to make an accomplishments list and add to it every time you achieve something new, no matter how big or small.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS.

If there is one motto to live by in life, it’s this:

Be kind.

It’s no secret that we have a tendency to become our own worst enemy but if you can learn to love yourself, the end result is worth it.

Top tip:
We often say things to ourselves that we’d never say to a friend, so the next time that negative self-talk resurfaces think: ‘would I say this to my bestie’? If the answer’s no, it’s time to be a little kinder to yourself.

There’s no denying that we all have body insecurities but learning to love yourself is the key to building confidence and becoming truly comfortable in your own skin.

Adopt that positive mindset, recite those positive affirmations  and remember: you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, doing exactly what your supposed to be doing.

We love you, Loungers.
