What are the Benefits of Bamboo? We Give you the Low-Down on All Things Sustainability

Sep 07, 2020 · 5 min read

Ladies, there's exactly three days to go until our Bamboo Triangle Collection launches. Are you as excited as we are?!

One thing's for sure, we can’t wait!

With time ticking on, we wanted to talk about all things sustainability for a moment and discuss all of the benefits of bamboo!

At Lounge, we're always 100% transparent about what goes into our products and how we function as a brand, and it goes without saying that we want you to love our new collection (just as much as we do!)

We want you to embrace the sustainable YOU in bamboo, so it’s only right we give you the low-down on our new bamboo fabrication and how our new take on sustainability will give your underwear drawer the pop it needs.

Bamboo Fabric is the Perfect Fibre for Comfort

There are many benefits of bamboo, but one of the biggest benefits is the comfort. Girls, you know we’re all for Comfort Made Sexy and bamboo is just that. Breathable, moisture-wicking and thermal regulating, you can feel cosy and snug in our Bamboo underwear. Rest assured, comfort will not be taking a backseat with our new collection!

Bamboo is Anti-Static

Girls, have you ever had your bra on during a long, hard day only to find that when you take it off your cups literally stick to you? Not with Bamboo. Bamboo is non-clingy and ultra soft so you will never have to worry about having sticky cups! Rest assured, we’ve got you covered.

Bamboo Fabric is Super Hypoallergenic

As women, a lot of us have sensitive skin, so we have to be careful with what we put on it. We know our bodies best, after all! With a bamboo fabric composition, rest assured that your skin will always be looked after. Bamboo is suitable for highly sensitive skin which means your underwear can be worn for long periods of time (especially if you’re travelling). Don’t forget to wash those undies on a thirty degrees wash after, though!

Bamboo Underwear is Easy to Care For

We know, we know, laundry is one massive chore, but rest assured that with Bamboo fabric, you can machine wash your undies at a cool temperature. Not only will you be saving water, you’ll be saving the planet too! Now that’s what we call Lounging comfortably with Mother Nature at heart.

Bamboo Produces 35% More Oxygen

The world is pretty bleak right now, we know, so it’s important that we give back and play our part in protecting the environment. Did you know that Bamboo produces 35% more oxygen than trees? Yes, really. Shine like the Eco Queen you are in your Bamboo underwear and go green! Not only will you look absolutely stunning, you’ll be doing your bit for Mother Nature too. It’s a win, win.

Bamboo is Made with No Pesticides or Fertilisers

One of the best things about Bamboo is that it doesn’t require any chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilisers to grow and flourish into the beautiful masterpieces we have today. Chemicals are bad for the environment and as an eco-conscious brand, we want to minimise the effect on Mother Nature as much as possible!  Bamboo fabric is always a good alternative, no matter what you decide to Lounge in.

Bamboo Fabric is Biodegradable

As much as we hate to say it, girls, there may come a time where you grow out of your undies and decide to give them a boot in the bin. The good thing about Bamboo is that it’s composed of a natural cellulose fibre, meaning it can naturally biodegrade in soil by microorganisms and sunshine. Amazing, right? Another bonus: it doesn’t cause any pollution!

Bamboo Has a High Rate of CO2 Consumption

The list just keeps getting better, we know! Bamboo takes five times more CO2 than trees and removes greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. There are many benefits of bamboo, but this one is truly up there. We want to make the world a happier, safer and healthier place to Lounge in and Bamboo makes all of that possible.

Bamboo is Antibacterial

In the current climate, protecting yourself against bacteria is a must. Luckily for us, bamboo can help resist the growth of bacteria due to it being composed with a bio agent known as ‘kun’. Say no to germs, ladies! With antibacterial properties, this also means that your bamboo underwear can be washed on a lower, safer heat. What could be better?

Bamboo is One of the Fastest Growing Plants

You’re probably thinking, no way! Yes, way. We’re not kidding. Bamboo plants can grow up to four feet a day until they reach their maximum height. One thing to keep in mind is that older, more established Bamboo plants will grow faster than newly planted ones. It takes at least 3 years in the ground for most bamboo species to be considered well established.

We bet you didn’t think Bamboo plants had so many amazing properties, right? The matter of fact is, bamboo is one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly materials out there and creating our Bamboo Triangle Collection using bamboo fabric proves just that.

We want our Female Family to know that we care about you and Mother Nature, this isn’t just a one way street and it never will be. We’re taking drastic steps so you can soak up all the bamboo underwear benefits and Lounge the eco-friendly way. We want you to join us. All of you.

If you want to read more about what we're doing to become more sustainable at Lounge, you can find out more on our Ethos page here.

Our Bamboo Triangle Collection launches on 10th September, 7PM.

You won’t want to miss this one, girls.
