Girls, let’s talk boobs (our favourite topic, of course)...

Everybody knows that boobs can either be big or small, perky or saggy, but did you know that there is more than one breast shape out there? Yes, really. Asymmetric, bell shaped, side set…they’re all full of bouncy beautifulness. And get this, there’s more!

Ladies, the truth is, there is no such thing as the 'perfect' breast shape and no pair of boobs look the same, so please stop comparing yourselves. You’re probably thinking, ‘well, what is my breast shape?’

Our breast shape guide covers different breast shapes that women everywhere can relate to. Knowing your breast shape can really help when it comes to choosing the right bra and generally just getting to know your boobs and their natural resting position. If you want to get to know more about your boobs, you can find out more below.

Bell Shaped

Bell Shaped Breasts

Bell shaped breasts are pretty common. They’re usually thinner at the top and fuller at the bottom and, you guessed it, they look like bells! Wearing a comfy and lifting T-Shirt bra can work wonders if you have this shape to help you feel as supported as possible.

Asymmetric

Asymmetric Breasts

Asymmetric boobs are soooo normal, girls. If you have this breast shape, one boob is usually bigger than the other (you’re not alone). But don’t be picking favourites now…

You could try a push up bra or a padded bra to give you some extra lift and symmetry, but don’t forget to own your uniqueness…embrace it!

Athletic

Athletic Breasts

No, ladies, you don’t need to be the next female Usain Bolt to have athletic boobs. This breast shape usually has a wider, more muscular-looking feel with less breast tissue. Wireless bras are perfect if you have this breast shape (no rib-digging here!)

East West

East West Breasts

This breast shape pretty much speaks for itself. If you have nipples that point in opposite directions, you probably have east west breasts. It kind of has a ring to it, doesn’t it? Time to start the East West Breasts girl band. Top tip: push up bras can help gather your breasts to the front of your chest!

Relaxed

Relaxed Breasts

If your boobs typically hang downwards and you have thinner tissue, you more than likely have relaxed breasts. This breast shape typically has a long or elongated shape. Give your boobs a gentle lift with a supportive T-Shirt Bra. Or just let them chill, after all, it’s what they’re best at!

Slender

Slender Breasts

Slender breasts are usually thinner and most of the time, don’t take up your entire chest. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have small boobs, it just means that your boobs are a little slimmer. Bras with a deep plunge can help gather your boobs together if you have this shape, they deserve to be shown off too!

Side Set

Side Set Breasts

If you have a small gap between your breasts, you probably have a side set shape. They can be any size and we love them allllll. We respect that they’re taking social distancing so seriously, but sometimes they deserve their time in the limelight too! Again, T-shirt and push up bras are the girls for the job.

Round

Round Breasts

I think we all know what this breast shape looks like, don’t we, girls? Round breasts are typically full, quite circular and equal at the top and bottom. If you have this breast shape, it’s your lucky day! You have a whole wooorld of bras to choose from, as they’re usually designed with this traditional shape in mind.

Tear Drop

Tear Drop Breasts

This breast shape looks a little bit like the round shape, except tear drop breasts are more circular and less full at the top. Again, if you have this breast shape, any bra tends to work for you! (What a win!)

Single Mastectomy

Single Mastectomy

Women who have had a single mastectomy usually undergo the procedure to remove one of the breasts if cancer is in a large area of the breast, if it has spread throughout the breast or if the breast is full of pre-cancerous cells. It's important to know that women may have a mastectomy, even when there is no sign of cancer to greatly decrease their risk.

Double Mastectomy

Double Mastectomy

With a double mastectomy, both breasts are removed instead of one. Again, this is usually done to prevent breast cancer in women who test positive for the
BRCA1 gene mutation or for women who have advanced breast cancer.

It's important to remember that mastectomy or no mastectomy, your breasts do not define you, girls. They're an extension of the beautiful, radiant and glowing human that you are so embrace your body, no matter what's underneath.

And there we have it - all the breast shapes you could possibly need to know about. Remember, girls, different breast shapes are perfectly normal and just because you might have boobs that hang a little or boobs that aren’t super full, it doesn’t mean that they’re something to be ashamed of! (If you are, how dare you think about your breasties like that?)

If you do notice any usual changes in your breasts such as a change in shape, dimpling, puckering, a change in skin texture or pain, it’s always best to consult your doctor. Our guide on noticing any usual changes in your breasts is worth every read.

Related: once you've found your perfect breast shape, it's probably time you get to grips with knowing when to get a new bra too. Don't worry, you're not the only one.

We love you, Loungers.

(And your boobs - duh!)
