October is a very important month for us here at Lounge. Why? Because it’s a month like no other. A month where we campaign hard, empower our Breasties and educate our Female Family on a topic that everybody, whether they’ve been impacted directly or indirectly, can relate to.
That’s right, girls, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Every year throughout the month of October, we get our campaigning socks on to really challenge breast cancer and highlight the importance of breast cancer education, awareness and research.
We know it’s a sensitive subject and we know it can be uncomfortable to talk about, but the thing is, we need to talk about it. Cancer won’t rest and neither will we.
Why is Breast Cancer Awareness Important?
Every year, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer.
Just over 10,000 of these women who are diagnosed will be under the age of 50 in the UK. Of these, nearly 8,000 women will be in their 40s. Around 2,200 women in the UK who are diagnosed will be aged 39 or under in 4% of cases. The list goes on. The truth is, cancer can affect any of us...at any point of our lives.
